Questions, answered plainly
If your question isn't here, ask our assistant at the bottom of the page or send us a message — we'll answer it properly.
Card payments
How quickly can I start taking card payments?
Once you've spoken to a specialist and the provider has everything it needs, terminals are usually dispatched quickly and arrive ready to use. We'll tell you the realistic timescale for your request before you commit.
What does a card machine cost?
It depends on the terminal, how much you take and the provider — so we don't quote a figure in chat or on the page. A specialist will go through the actual costs with you, in plain English, before you decide.
Do I need a contract?
Providers usually ask for a minimum term. A specialist will tell you the term, the notice period and any charges up front so you can compare properly.
Can I take payments on my phone?
Often, yes — either through a card reader paired with an app or through payment links. Tell us how you trade and we'll point you at the option that fits.
Business funding
How much can I borrow?
It depends on your turnover, how long you've been trading, what the money is for and the provider's own criteria. Nothing is agreed until a provider carries out its checks — we can't promise an amount or an approval.
Will a loan affect my credit score?
A provider will normally run checks before it lends. Ask the specialist about the type of check being used — some initial checks don't leave a mark. We can't give credit advice ourselves.
How long does funding take?
It varies by provider and by how quickly documents come back. A specialist will give you a realistic timescale after reviewing your details.
What if I'm not sure it's right for me?
Then don't apply. We'll explain the options and the costs and you can walk away — no obligation, no pressure.
Working with TapOnce
What does TapOnce actually do?
TapOnce Limited is a UK broker and introducer. We help small businesses compare card payment and business funding options from partner providers. We are not a lender and we are not a payment provider, and we don't make lending decisions.
Is your information financial advice?
No. Everything on this site and in our chat is general and indicative. It isn't advice and it isn't an offer of credit. Speak to a specialist about your own circumstances.
Will you pass my details to other companies?
We share what's needed with the partner providers relevant to your enquiry, and we don't sell your data. See our Privacy Notice for the detail and for how to ask us to delete your information.
How do I make a complaint?
Contact us and we'll deal with it promptly. Our complaints page explains the process.
Still not sure?
Nothing on this site is financial advice, and we never quote rates without talking to you first. Ask us anything — even the awkward questions about costs and contracts.
